This is actually just one of the most amazing pieces that I have seen out of her recent collection and to me, this is a beautiful piece. While of course, Kate actually uses glass instead of a lot of gemstones and she actually cut her gold out of gold plated metal, it is all about cost cutting for the consumer.

In this day and age – Kate wants to make sure stuff affordable and that is why this little gem is so awesome!

I am sure that those of us who saw the movie all remember, for instance, that to die for wedding gown featured in Sex and the City, as well as the one worn by Kate Hudson in Bridal Wars. Vera Wang’s designs have appeared in plenty of movies and television shows, including the popular Gossip Girl.

However, she is also proving to be a dynamic jewelry designer, with elegant yet edgy pieces that, let’s face it, would look beautiful with one of her famous gowns.

A favorite piece of mine is the Vera Wang Small Choker Necklace. The intricate links you see were actually inspired by the shape and design of motorcycle chains, although they are embellished with elegant, gorgeous crystals.

Savitt is from New York City, the progeny of a fashion forward mom and an artistic dad. Her childhood was spent among a wealth of culture, fine arts, and fashion. She was still only in high school when she began fabricating pieces for renowned names like Cartier, Bloomingdale’s, Van Cleef and Arpels, and Henri Bendel.

It thus comes as no surprise that a number of big name, stylish celebrities have worn her pieces, women like Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon, Julia Roberts, the Big Jennifers — Anniston and Garner — Uma Therman, Nicole Richie, and Penelope Cruz. Even the guys love Janis — Prince has worn her pieces, as have Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

One look at the Brass and Crystal Necklace, and you can see why she is so popular. The floral inset is made of clear crystals and looks perfect with the four brass chains. The feel is vintage, but the necklace is definitely savvy.

She took that vision from the internet to her design aesthetic, producing some of the most beautiful jewelry out there right now — and it is surprisingly affordable, as well.

For instance, the Veronica 4 Strand Necklance is available for as little as $138 in certain places — and no, that is not too much for this particular necklace.

The many strands are comprised of dazzling Czech stones, as well as glass beads. Its clasp is plated in silver. The necklace’s shortest strand is eighteen and a half inches long, while the longest strand is twenty one inches long.

The length and the design both make this a necklace which is ideal to go from day time to night time.

The problem with that is these designs can begin to become cliche, and it can be increasingly difficult to find a design and aesthetic which is truly innovative.

As it so happens, however, Texas native and jewelry designer Lela Rose brings a truly unique aesthetic to the world of butterfly designs. Rose is a graduate of the University of Colorado. She also attended the much famed Parsons School of Design in New York City. She launched her Lela Rose collection in 1998 — it was not jewelry, but rather consisted of dresses, jackets, and separates.

However, this soon evolved into jewelry which often went with her clothing pieces. For example, the Butterfly Necklace was designed to be paired with a simple and elegant summer dress. It is polished brass with black and olive cabochon, as well as crystals.

Rather, we are talking about Jill Pearson’s jewelry company, which she founded back in 1992. Being Japanese American, Pearson is well known for mixing the two cultures together, in order to create clean, sleek, spunky pieces of jewelry.

You can plainly see her aesthetic in this, the Multi Bead Dangle Necklace, which can be both casual and dressy. There are clusters comprised of faceted rubies in the necklance, along with aventurine, an olive colored quartz, and amozonite. The chain itself is antique sterling silver.

This is a very fun piece, in part because it is so colorful. However, because the colors blend together so well and complement one another, it is saved from being too ostentatious and actually manages quite a bit of elegance in the bargain.

These days, it seems like everyone is going green. Wouldn’t it be great if you could go green where your jewelry is concerned, as well? After all, paper and plastic plates, bowls, and cups are all recycled nowadays, ditto with chip bags, clothing, furniture, and any number of other things. It only stands to reason that there are jewelry designers out there using natural and recycled materials to make their rings, bracelets, necklaces, and cufflinks. Kirsten Muenster is one of them:

This is one of the necklaces from her Totem collection, and as you can see, it is absolutely gorgeous. It is definitely unique and innovative. In fact, this is one of Kirsten’s “one of a kind” pieces. The juxtaposition of colors is sleek, sophisticated, yet somehow trendy and edgy as well.

You would never expect that this piece was made from completely green materials, would you? But that is absolutely the case. According to Kirsten Muenster’s jewelry site online, this totem necklace is made of: Druzy quartz, a vintage button made of glass, fossilized coral, and sterling silver which has been recycled.

Crystal jewelry is enormously popular right now, especially when the crystals in question are Swarovski crystals. Objets d’Envy can be found online and offers a tremendous range of stunning pieces featuring beautifully cut, innovatively designed Swarovski crystals. Over the next few submissions, we are going to take a look at a few of them, beginning with Enchante:

The crystals in this necklace are multi faceted, and an alluring, mysterious, altogether original shade of smoke laced silver. The juxtaposition of the crystals and the chain, the way the colors mix, makes this kind of necklace ideal both for day to day wear and as the perfect, elegant accessory during a black tie evening.

There is something very vintage about this necklace as well, something evocative. Thus, you can really prove yourself as a trend setter by wearing a piece like this.

The recent trends in jewelry are extremely flirty and fun. Oscar buzz this year was all about Changeling, starring worldwide trendsetter, Angelina Jolie. It is entirely possible that one current jewelry trend is due to the fabulous looks Angelina was sporting in the movie and, often, during the press junket for it.

It was the nineteen twenties. The hottest new trend was flapper glam. Now it’s 2009 — and the hottest new trend is, once again, flapper glam. Long, colorful necklaces — like the Amore Vintage Purple Pendant Necklace — evoke a sleek, flirty style. And let’s face it, vintage is always in style — it just so happens that, in this case, “vintage” is synonymous with the Roaring Twenties, which was all about bright colors, exaggerated accessories, and the kind of fun that was both bawdy and light hearted.
